Bogue MEM Eau De Parfum (50ml)

My very first love from Bogue. MEM, the post-modern, surreal fougere. It was the first perfume I tried from the house, and I immediately fell for it. For someone who dislikes lavender with a passion, that says a LOT. I still struggle with lavender in perfumes and with fougeres. However, the way Antonio painted MEM speaks to my heart. I love the juicy opening, the effervescent, root-beerish quality, the smoky castoreum, the honeyed civet, and the flinty resins in the base. It also behaves differently from wear to wear. Sometimes it feels more fruity concentree, other times, the smoky castoreum pushes louder, occasionally, the civet gets quite urinous in the base, and at times, I'll get almost no animalics but benzoin. Overall, however, this is a lavender bomb, dissecting the aromatic from head to toe, exploiting everything to be said about it. It somehow works for me, as opposed to most others.

I'm not a fragrance expert but I do know a quality perfume and this is top of the list without doubt one of the most beautiful scents I have had the pleasure to wear my nose is glued to my arm I might need an operation to remove it!

An amazing, potent brew of super real lavender(s) and mandarin, complicated by a whole host of shimmering minty, floral and woody notes. Goes on strong and lasts all day, with an absolutely incredible sweet and rich drydown. Love it.

Horrendously expensive, but - incredibly - just about worth it. Matches the hype and is a proper (proper) scent. None but the most profoundly afflicted will be reading this review anyway, and caught in a ditherance. If you're ready to get serious, the Bogue range is out there waiting for you and this mysterious, hypnotic and persistent gem may be all you need to know.
