Blackland Blackbird Safety Razor (Machined)

A boundary crosser in DE shaving.

Such a delight to use: intuitive, and always with that feel of Backland luxury. I am an SE guy these days, but bought this on a whim, knowing that the very least I would get is a quality experience. I never thought I’d be torn between a DE and an SE for my desert island kit, but the Blackbird changed that in one shave.

Sheer craftsmanship and design innovation, which feels worth its price tag: the weight of the head is perfect; all you need to do is lock your wrist, let the heft drive your hand, and guide this baby through. The potential aggression of the set-up translates into an effortless glide. It could easily do BBS in two passes, but if you make that a leisurely three passes, it’s BBS+. I haven’t even tried anything but the Personna Lab Blue that it came with. Lovely.

One of the best, high end razors available today. Well worth the money in my humble opinion.
