Zoologist Portuguese Man O' War

Zoologist Portuguese Man O' War: The Sting Of The Sea Is Coming

The newest creation from Zoologist, composed by perfumer Antoine Lie, is set to make waves this Halloween. Portuguese Man O’ War is an aquatic niche fragrance that captures the danger, beauty and energy of the open ocean.

Scent Notes

Ginger, Immortelle, Saffron, Gunpowder, Jasmine Sambac, Geranium, Seaweed, Sandalwood, Tonka

The Experience

At first spray, it’s sharp and electric. A burst of ginger, saffron, and immortelle hits like the sting of its namesake. Then, the heart reveals a dark, smoky tension of gunpowder and jasmine sambac, evoking a clash of salt air and static electricity. As it settles, seaweed and sandalwood emerge, lending a briny depth and a soft, woody warmth beneath the surface.

Zoologist Portuguese Man O' War

The result is unfamiliar and unique, even for Zoologist, equal parts marine, smoky, and spicy, with the signature Zoologist complexity that fans crave. It’s oceanic, but not clean; textured, dangerous, and strangely addictive.

Early testers on Fragrantica describe it as "an olfactory storm", with "a sharp marine tang softened by woods and amber warmth". Others compare it to Squid and Seahorse, calling it "darker, smokier, and more electric".

In fragrance terms, Portuguese Man O' War sits between Aquatic, Woody, and Smoky/Oriental — a sea-spray explosion wrapped in spice and static.

Launching 31 October 2025. Expect it to sell fast.
